The Door Supervisor course typically takes 4-6 days of classroom training, depending on the format you choose. We offer both weekday and weekend intensive options to fit around your schedule.
You'll need a valid passport or birth certificate plus a document showing your National Insurance number. You must also be at least 18 years old and have the right to work in the UK.
Having a criminal record doesn't automatically disqualify you. The SIA assesses each application individually based on the nature and age of the offence. We recommend checking the SIA website for their criminality criteria before booking.
A Door Supervisor licence allows you to work at licensed venues (pubs, clubs, events) and also covers security guard duties. A Security Guard licence is for guarding property and premises but does not cover licensed venue work. Most students choose the Door Supervisor licence as it opens more opportunities.
An SIA licence lasts for 3 years from the date of issue. You'll need to renew it before it expires, and we offer refresher courses to help you prepare for renewal.
No prior experience is needed. Our courses are designed for complete beginners. The training covers everything you need to know, and our gamified Learn Zone helps you practice scenario-based questions before your exam.
The Learn Zone is our gamified study platform included free with every course booking. It features scenario-based questions, XP tracking, streaks, and badges — making exam prep feel like a game rather than revision. Access starts the moment you book.
SIA-licensed security professionals typically earn between £14 and £25 per hour depending on the role and location. Door Supervisors tend to command higher rates, especially for event and nightlife work; Security Guards and CCTV Operators get more stable hours.
Our courses include thorough exam preparation and access to the Learn Zone for practice. In the rare case that you don't pass, we'll work with you on next steps including additional study support.
The Protect Duty (Martyn's Law) will require venues to have counter-terrorism preparedness plans. Our training already covers terrorism awareness and the ACT framework, positioning our graduates ahead of upcoming legislative changes.
"The Learn Zone was a game-changer for my exam prep. I was practising scenario questions on the bus to work and ended up scoring 95% on my first attempt."

"I had zero experience in security before booking with RFTB. The trainers were brilliant, and the online platform made revising feel like less of a chore. Got my licence within 6 weeks."
Priya S.
Security Guard, Manchester
"Flexible weekend course fit perfectly around my day job. The venue was easy to find and the instructors kept things engaging. Already recommended RFTB to two mates."
