SIA Door Supervisor Licence
A Door Supervisor licence lets you work as a front-line security operative at any premises licensed to sell alcohol, host live events, or play recorded music — pubs, clubs, festivals, venues. It also covers most general guarding duties.

What you'll need
- Be 18 or over
- Right to work in the UK
- Complete an SIA-approved DS training course
- Pass a DBS basic disclosure
- Apply via the SIA online portal
From training to working — 4 steps

Book your training
Pick a date and venue. The course runs over 6 days (or weekends).

Complete the course
Pass three exams (conflict, physical intervention, working in private security) on the final day.

Apply to the SIA
Submit your application online with your training certificate, a basic DBS, and £190.

Receive your licence
Most applications take 4-6 weeks. You can start working as soon as it arrives.
